Barcode Scanning – Linked Survey Targets

Keeping with the theme of retail audits and technologies to make it easier on our partners and the shopper/auditor, we are excited to announce another new Presto feature. Barcode scanning for linked survey targets.

How does this technology benefit you and your clients? If you are implementing and managing any type of retail audit project where the scope requires the shopper/auditor to look for hundreds of items at one time, this can be a cumbersome task. Using this feature will allow them to scan the barcode to automatically select the correct item rather than picking from a long list, which may have many items with similar names, leading to possible user errors. As we all know, the easier you can make it on the shopper/auditor, the better the results and less headaches for you and your team.


Once the shopper clicks the button, it brings up the phone camera allowing them to take a picture of the barcode. It then tries to interpret it and find a target whose target id matches the barcode value.


While the picture/scan functionality works well, it will only be as good as the quality of the barcode printed on the product. If there is a case where the barcode can’t be scanned, the shopper can either select the target from the list (type to search) or type in the barcode digits manually.
